#GE2017 Education Question Time hustings in Brighouse and Halifax

All welcome at Hiroshima Day memorial event, Hebden Bridge on 6th August

Everyone is welcome to attend and take part in an event to remember those who died when the nuclear bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and those who still suffer from radiation poisoning, and say Never Again! 

Calder Valley CND for Peace and Justice is hosting an hour-long programme of poetry, readings, songs and reflection, starting at 3pm by the Packhorse Bridge in Hebden Bridge. 

At a time when our government has just voted to renew the UK’s weapons of mass destruction, it is even more important to remember the horror of nuclear weapons.

On 18th July 2016 from 6pm – 7pm, many passing drivers on the main road through Hebden Bridge showed support for a well-attended protest, organised by Calder Valley CND for Peace & Justice, against the renewal of Trident. Hebden Bridge Mayor to read peace declaration on 70th anniversary of Nagasaki atomic bombing

At 3pm on Sunday 9th August, peace campaigners in the Upper Calder will be commemorating the 70th anniversary of the dropping of an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Nagasaki.

This took place on August 9th, three days after the neighbouring city, Hiroshima, was destroyed by the world’s first nuclear attack.

The commemoration will take place at the wavy steps by the Pack Horse Bridge on Bridgegate, central Hebden Bridge. All are welcome to take part. Continue reading
